The VP8 Fatboy has landed at Euphonic Sound.

A new working prototype put together by technical sound engineer Freddy Gabrsek at the Origin Audio Electronics laboratory is currently in use at Euphonic Sound. Recently we recorded indie rock band RBB (check back for a link soon), the VP8 Fatboy was used on everything – the drum kt, all guitars and vocals.   Check out this unmastered mix of  RBB’s “Playin Shy”.  Because this is an unmastered mix you’ll need to turn up the volume to compensate for the lack of mastering compression and loudness.

Check out Democratizing Analog Part 1 on Studio Manifesto for some thoughts on how DIY analog audio devices, like the VP8 Fatboy, help to level the music production playing field, by putting great tools of tone into the hands and studios of more indie artists and producers.
